The set of bones of a human being is called bone .

There are 20 bones in the bodyshell of the human body. Bone is made up of organic matter (about 1/3 of the weight of bone, including ossein), water (about 1/4 of the weight of bone) and inorganic mineral salts (largely calcium, phosphorus and magnesium).

Bones perform different functions:
  • - Bones provide a function of body support and protection of certain organs.
  • - They represent the leverage arms transmitting muscle forces during movement.
  • - The bones form a reserve of calcium for the body in which it can draw according to its needs.

With age, bone mass inevitably reduces. Several factors explain this physiological phenomenon: diet, lifestyle ... The peak of bone mass is reached between 18 and 25 years, it conditions the mineralization of the skeleton.
