SAMe (Active ingredient)

SAMe (or "S-Adenosylmethionine") is a molecule that is formed naturally in the body following a reaction between methionine (amino acid) and adenosine triphosphate (source of energy for the cell).

SAMe is essential for the proper functioning of the central nervous system and the liver. Some doctors prescribe it for depression or osteoarthritis.

The “e” in “SAMe” refers to the “enteric” coating of the capsules which must resist stomach acidity so that the molecule can be absorbed in the intestine.
