Red yeast rice and Coenzyme Q10: good for cholesterol


The red yeast rice is the product of a fungus grown on rice. This microorganism Monascus purpureus, produces a characteristic red pigment which gave its name to the yeast. It is the yeast that is red and not rice.

The active ingredient in red yeast rice is monacolin K. This is nothing less than a natural statin identical to synthetic statin used in the manufacture of drugs against cholesterol hence its activity.

Indication

Why should you take red yeast rice for the evening meal? For the synthesis of cholesterol by the liver is mainly at night.

Dosage

1 capsule per day to be swallowed with a full glass of water, preferably at the evening meal.

Composition per capsule:
  • Red Yeast Rice 550 mg
    • Including 2.2 mg of monacolin K
  • Coenzyme Q10: 20 mg
  • Gelatin of marine origin: 100 mg
