The unique and preserved environment of New Zealand is the heartland of flora with remarkable "health" potential. A particular plant, the Manuka, is found there : a small robust shrub used for a long time by the Maori healers as a medicinal plant against, among others, microbes, inflammation and digestive problems.

The specific properties of Manuka honey come from the nectar of Manuka flowers whose unique components differentiate it from other honeys. In 2008, Manuka Health discovered that the concentration of methylglyoxal in this honey is the key element explaining and measuring the potent antibacterial activity of Manuka honey.

From harvest to production, Manuka Health strives to preserve the potential of natural ingredients and conducts scientific tests to ensure the quality of its products. Manuka Health's beehives benefit from a "health" program which protects them, among other things, against parasites without using antibiotics. After the Manuka blooms and the honey is harvested, beekeepers watch over the bees and provide them with extra food during the winter, until the next flowering.
