Back to basics with Aleppo soap

Akila Mansour is Syrian and comes from the Latakia region on the coast. Her family makes their soaps as every Syrian family used to do before the factories squeezed the olives with waste and pits.

In 1989, Akila arrived in France. After her studies, her family in Syria offered her to market Aleppo soap in France. After some hesitation, Akila finally agreed when one of her French friends offers her an Aleppo soap.

Delighted to find a product from her country, Akila leaves for Syria to work on this project.

The first soaps arrived in 2004 and Lauralep was set up.

In 2007, the checks carried out in Syria by the Ecocert team enabled Lauralep to offer the very first certified organic Aleppo soaps.

Unfortunately, the crisis in Syria happened and controls became difficult.

Consequently, the supervision of organic manufacturing in Syria became difficult. With the agreement of Ecocert, the manufacturing of the soap was transferred and established in France to ensure quality and make control possible again.

Now, Lauralep's organic Aleppo soap is made in France, according to the ancestral Aleppo manufacturing process, with first-pressed olive oil and laurel oil.
