La Gravelline is the result of François Domenach’s research, a teacher from Roussillon suffering from kidney stones (called ""gravel"" at the time). He tried an ancient remedy based on Aubier du Tilleul (the sapwood of the lime tree). He used the wild lime from his region, whose properties were found to be much more broad and potent than those of other varieties and he was completely cured.

The sapwood of a lime tree is the soft part between the tree and the bark. After many years of research, François Domenach determined the best harvesting technique, which must be done at the precise moment of the rise of the sap. In 1916, he named his remedy ""La Gravelline"" and made it known to the Academy of Sciences and then to the whole of France.
Lime sapwood is an excellent plant-based drainer and it improves digestion and promotes the well-being of the kidney.

The appellation "Aubier de Tilleul sauvage du Roussillon La Gravelline" has been recognised by the French pharmacopoeia. It is distinguished by very specific characteristics, linked to its region and to its harvesting technique:
  • Wild lime sapwood sourced from Roussillon only.
  • Harvest between 700 and 1,100 metres above sea level.
  • Harvest carried out at the time of the strongest sap rise, guaranteeing the maximum active ingredients.
  • Pure sapwood in which all element of the bark has disappeared; only the active part remains.

Neither another region nor another source seems able to achieve the same virtues and the same benefits.

The Aubier du Tilleul La Gravelline initially came in the form of sticks to be boiled in water to obtain a decoction. As from the 90s, scientific research made it possible to also offer it in the form of drinking ampoules.

Aubier du Tilleul La Gravelline is certified as organic by Ecocert.
