Herbal medicine, between science and tradition: a study of more than 140 plants addressing the botany, history, pharmacology, the current medical use.

Phytotherapy between science and tradition

Preface by Jean-Marie Rouart of the French Academy.

Etymologically, "herbal medicine" means treatment by plants. This ancient practice is better than erase symptoms, it enables man to find his place between Heaven and Earth.

As Hippocrates said, "Primum non nocere" that is to say, first do no harm should be the common thread of each therapist. It therefore seems necessary to seek to understand the patient and the progression of his disease. This approach is fundamentally linked to lifestyles and beliefs of a place, a time or a family group, social or ethnic.

Knowledge of traditional medicines, those that have transcended time and acquired their nobility, partly allows to avoid many pitfalls. Modern science still further explores in more detail the world around us, also brings a lot of knowledge elements, formalizing "scientifically" the impressions felt in contact with the universe.

We have deliberately chosen to place ourselves between science and tradition, listening to the latest discoveries usually validate and better understand the practice of the ancients. However, we remain alert to the shattering effects of ads, often orchestrated by an industry whose interests are not necessarily converging with those of patients.

Religious beliefs such as creationism or evolution theories like Darwinism and molecular biology has followed suit, had a major flaw, that of having disconnected the middle man where he is.

The man, animal, plant and mineral are all from the same universe and share much more in common than it seems. May the reading of this book light the way qu'empreinte Light to generate the magic healer simple.

New edition entirely reworked: the study of more than 140 plants addressing the botany, history, pharmacology, the current medical use. Many new chapters.
