In India, sandalwood is commonly used in ceremonies and rituals. A large majority of Hindus wear a mark on the forehead made with this paste, the third eye supposed to keep cool. Sandalwood is also present in traditional medicine, especially its essential oil that is found even pure, and in Ayurvedic medicine to treat anxiety. In Buddhism, sandalwood scents are considered capable of transforming desires and keep the attention of a person practicing meditation.
